Documents you need
- For enrolment: original identity, address and DOB documents from UIDAI's accepted list (or head-of-family based enrolment)
- For online services: Aadhaar number and Aadhaar-linked active mobile number
- For Aadhaar app / mAadhaar: same phone as the Aadhaar-linked mobile
Important warnings
- • Aadhaar enrolment is FREE — never pay a fixer for enrolment itself.
- • Only use uidai.gov.in, myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in, resident.uidai.gov.in or the official Aadhaar app. Beware of fake sites.
- • Do NOT share your Aadhaar OTP with anyone claiming to help you.
- • Keep an Aadhaar-linked mobile number active — most online services depend on it.
- • Fees and free-update windows are set by UIDAI and can change — verify before paying.

Step by step

NEW AADHAAR: Book an appointment at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra via bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/aadhaar or walk in with original documents.

Give biometrics (fingerprints + iris + photo). Collect the acknowledgement slip with your 14-digit Enrolment ID (EID).

DOWNLOAD e-AADHAAR: Open myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in > Download Aadhaar. Enter Aadhaar / EID / VID, verify Aadhaar-linked mobile OTP.

Open the PDF with password = first 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS + year of birth (YYYY).

ONLINE DOCUMENT UPDATE (FREE): myAadhaar > Document Update. Confirm demographic details and upload proof of identity + address.

PAID DEMOGRAPHIC UPDATE: myAadhaar > Update Address (Rs. 75) or visit Aadhaar Seva Kendra with proof.

BIOMETRIC UPDATE: Book an appointment at Aadhaar Seva Kendra; pay Rs. 125 (or free at 5/15 for kids).

ORDER PVC CARD: myAadhaar > Order Aadhaar PVC Card > pay Rs. 75; delivered by Speed Post.
