How scholarships work in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh runs one of India's widest fee-reimbursement systems through the Jnanabhumi portal. Instead of the student applying alone, the college uploads admission data and the student completes eKYC — the state then pays the full tuition fee and a separate hostel and food amount to eligible families.
Andhra Pradesh's own schemes
Fee reimbursement (Vidya Deevena)
Who: SC, ST, BC, EBC, Kapu, minority and differently-abled students, family income up to ₹2.5 lakh, in ITI, polytechnic, degree, engineering, medical and similar courses
Benefit: Full tuition fee, paid in instalments during the year
Hostel and food support (Vasathi Deevena)
Who: Same eligibility, students in higher education
Benefit: Up to ₹20,000 a year for degree and above, smaller amounts for ITI and polytechnic
Post-matric scholarships for SC / ST (central share)
Who: SC / ST students in Class 11 onwards
Benefit: Maintenance allowance plus non-refundable fees as per the central scheme
Application calendar
- July – September: College admissions and Jnanabhumi registration through the college
- September – December: Student eKYC at the village / ward secretariat or on the portal
- Through the year: Fee and hostel money released in instalments
Avoid these rejections
- Keep 75% attendance — low attendance is a common reason the fee instalment is held back.
- Complete eKYC (biometric) at your village or ward secretariat after the college registers you.
- Your rice card / household mapping must match the student's family details.
Andhra Pradesh scholarship FAQs
How do I apply for fee reimbursement in Andhra Pradesh?
Your college registers you on the Jnanabhumi portal after admission. You then complete eKYC with your Aadhaar biometric at the village or ward secretariat, and the application moves for verification.
What is the income limit for AP fee reimbursement?
Total family income should be up to ₹2.5 lakh a year, with additional conditions on land holding and property. The secretariat checks this using household data.
Is the hostel money separate from the fee?
Yes. The tuition fee goes towards your college fee, while the hostel and food support is a separate yearly amount for living costs.
Can private college students get AP fee reimbursement?
Yes, if the course and college are approved and the fee is within the limit fixed by the state for that college.
Where do I check my AP scholarship status?
On the Jnanabhumi portal using your Aadhaar or student ID, or ask your college scholarship cell.
