How scholarships work in Gujarat
Gujarat uses the Digital Gujarat portal for caste-based post-matric scholarships, and runs its own big merit scheme, MYSY, for students in professional courses. Recent schemes also pay girls to stay in school through Class 12.
Gujarat's own schemes
Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY)
Who: Students with at least 80 percentile in Class 10 / 12, family income up to ₹6 lakh
Benefit: 50% of tuition fee (up to a cap such as ₹2 lakh for engineering / medical), plus hostel and book support
Namo Lakshmi Yojana
Who: Girls in Class 9–12 in government and aided schools
Benefit: Total support of about ₹50,000 over four years
Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana
Who: Students in the Science stream in Class 11–12
Benefit: Total support of about ₹25,000
Application calendar
- August – November: Digital Gujarat post-matric and MYSY windows
- School year: Namo Lakshmi / Saraswati through schools
- After verification: DBT payment
Avoid these rejections
- MYSY renewal needs you to pass every year — a backlog can stop the next year's payment.
- Apply for MYSY on its own portal (mysy.guj.nic.in), not on Digital Gujarat.
- Income certificate must be from the Mamlatdar / Taluka office.
