💡 Good to know: cheap gold loans at village banks
Indian Bank's Jewel Loan runs at 8.50–8.80% with zero processing fee — far cheaper than NBFC rates of 9–27%. In rural areas like Odisha, ask at a public-sector bank branch.
Farmers should ask for the 'Agricultural Jewel Loan' — rates from 7% with KCC linkage and nil fees are possible. Don't take the retail jewel loan.

How to use this calculator
- Enter gold weight, purity and today's 24k rate — or type directly.
- Pick bank or NBFC: banks get tiered LTV (85/80/75), NBFCs stay flat 75%.
- Choose EMI or bullet (max 12 months) and see eligible amount and dues.
What is this tool?
A gold loan gives quick cash against your jewellery without selling it. This calculator finds your pure-gold value, applies the correct RBI LTV slab (85/80/75 for banks, flat 75% for NBFCs), and shows EMI or bullet dues. Use it before pledging gold anywhere.
What lenders don't tell you (gold loans)
Small loans get more: up to Rs. 2.5 lakh pledges fetch 85% at banks. Above Rs. 5 lakh it drops to 75% — and NBFCs pay flat 75% at any slab.
LTV is policed through the tenure, not just at sanction. If gold prices fall, the lender can demand top-up or part-payment.
Bullet loans end in one shot within 12 months. Only intrinsic gold value counts — stones don't. Auction surplus, if any, must come back to you.

Common gold-loan questions
How much loan on 50g of 22k gold?
Pure-gold value first (50g × 22/24 × rate), then the tier: 85% if the loan stays under Rs. 2.5 lakh at a bank, flat 75% at NBFCs. Try your numbers above.
EMI or bullet — which is better?
EMI suits salaries; bullet suits lump-sum income (harvest, bonus) but must end within 12 months with full interest. Compare both above.
What if gold prices fall during my loan?
The lender can ask for top-up or part-payment to restore LTV. Keep a buffer — don't borrow the absolute maximum.
Worked example: gold valued at ₹2,00,000
- Under RBI's 2025 directions (from 1 April 2026), loans up to ₹2.5 lakh can be up to 85% of the gold's value: ₹2,00,000 × 85% = ₹1,70,000.
- Borrowing ₹1,50,000 at 12% a year on a 12-month bullet plan: interest ≈ ₹18,000, paid with the principal at the end.
- The same loan as a 12-month EMI costs ₹13,327 a month and about ₹9,900 interest, because the principal reduces every month.
How the Gold loan calculator works: the rules
- RBI's Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral Directions, 2025 set maximum loan-to-value at 85% (up to ₹2.5 lakh), 80% (₹2.5–5 lakh) and 75% (above ₹5 lakh).
- Loans above ₹2.5 lakh need a proper assessment of your repayment capacity.
- Lenders must return your gold promptly after full repayment and give notice before auctioning it.
Gold loan calculator: frequently asked questions

What happens if I don't repay my gold loan?

Most lenders allow part payment and release part of the gold.
Is the RBI LTV rule the same for banks and NBFCs?
Yes, the 2025 directions apply to banks, cooperative banks and NBFCs.
