How scholarships work in Kerala
Kerala separates its scholarships into three channels: e-Grantz for SC, ST, OBC and OEC students, the Directorate of Collegiate Education (DCE) portal for merit scholarships, and the Minority Welfare Department for minority students.
Kerala's e-Grantz is different from most states because the institution — not the student — submits the claim. Students give their documents to the college office, which enters them on e-Grantz; the state then credits the lump-sum grant and stipend to the student's account and the fee to the college.
