How scholarships work in Sikkim
Sikkim's best-known scheme, the Hon'ble Chief Minister's Merit Scholarship (HCMMSS), places children from modest families in good schools from around age 11 and supports them up to graduation. Local students also get post-matric scholarships and cash awards for board toppers.
Sikkim's state schemes are tied to local identity: you need a Sikkim Subject certificate or Certificate of Identification (COI). The HCMMSS selection happens around age 11–12, so parents should watch for the notification when their child is in Class 5 or 6.
