Why Your Nmms Amount Gets Delayed - DBT & Aadhaar Check
Almost all Nmms funds are transferred through DBT via PFMS directly to your own bank account, not to your college. The biggest failure point is your account not being Aadhaar-seeded with NPCI mapper. Visit your home branch and ask clearly: 'Is my account DBT-enabled and NPCI-mapped?' Extra tip for nmms: Keep your bank IFSC updated if you changed branch after 11th.
Track it on PFMS Know Your Payments or NSP (scholarships.gov.in) to see exactly where your payment is stuck.
Nmms - Can I Take 2 Scholarships? Renewal Rule
Can I keep Nmms plus another scholarship?
Under NSP norms from AY 2026-27, you can keep one merit/central scheme plus one welfare/category scheme if both schemes allow it. But some schemes strictly prohibit double benefit - Nmms This scheme's guidelines decide final eligibility for combination.. So always read scheme-specific condition.
Do I need to renew yearly?
Yes, Nmms requires fresh renewal each academic year with minimum passing marks and attendance criteria. No auto-renewal.
More about National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS, Class 8→9–12)
The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship gives ₹12,000 a year (₹1,000 a month) to students from Class 9 to Class 12 in government, government-aided and local-body schools. You qualify through a state-level selection test in Class 8 that has two papers: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
Family income must be under ₹3.5 lakh a year. After selection you register on NSP, and you must clear Class 9 and later classes with the required marks to keep it until Class 12.
Mistakes students make with this scheme
- Moving to a private unaided school or a Kendriya Vidyalaya / Navodaya residential school — these students are not covered.
- Not registering on NSP after clearing the test, so the payment never starts.
- Scoring below the renewal marks in Class 9 or 10.
