Raipur Krishi Upaj Mandi Guide — Paddy Beyond the Society Cap, Pulses & Vegetables

In Raipur most paddy never touches the mandi: it goes to the cooperative society (samiti) at ₹3,100 per quintal under the state procurement. The Raipur Krishi Upaj Mandi is where the rest of the harvest is priced — paddy above your 21-quintal-per-acre limit, tiwra and chana, and the vegetables that feed the capital.

Raipur Krishi Upaj Mandi Samiti is the largest regulated yard in Chhattisgarh and sits next to the state's biggest rice-milling cluster. Millers and traders bid openly for grain that the societies did not take, so the rate here tracks the private milling market rather than the support price. The yard is linked to eNAM, which lets outside buyers bid on graded lots.

Paddy arrives from November to February, at the same time the society purchase runs, and again in smaller volumes after the procurement window closes on 31 January. Tiwra (lathyrus), chana and lentil come in after the rabi harvest from March to April. The vegetable yard runs daily, with tomato, brinjal and leafy greens from Abhanpur, Arang and Dharsiwa.

Documents you need

  • Aadhaar linked to your AgriStack farmer ID
  • B-1 / khasra land record for the field
  • Bank passbook in your own name
  • Society sale receipt, if you have already sold your capped quantity
  • Mandi gate pass and anubandh slip for each lot

Important warnings

  • • The ₹3,100 rate applies only at the society and only up to 21 quintals per acre. Mandi buyers pay the open-market rate, which is often several hundred rupees lower.
  • • Middlemen offer to 'route' extra paddy through someone else's society account. Biometric checks and recycling raids make this a criminal risk for both people.
  • • A sale made outside the yard without an anubandh slip leaves you with no record if the buyer delays payment.
  • • Legal commission rate: Mandi fee ~1%; commission ~1–2% — verify the notified rate.

How to sell your crop at Raipur Mandi

  1. 1

Work out your society limit first: land area on your AgriStack-linked record × 21 quintals. Only the paddy above that figure — or paddy that fails the society's quality check — needs the mandi.

  2. 2

Book your society slot on the Tunhar token app and sell the capped quantity there before you bring the balance to the mandi.

  3. 3

Dry the surplus paddy to around 17% moisture. Raipur millers deduct heavily for wet grain because they store it for months.

  4. 4

Enter the lot at the mandi gate and keep the anubandh (sale agreement) slip that the samiti issues — it is your proof of price and weight.

  5. 5

Watch the open bid or check the eNAM lot price before you accept.

  6. 6

Insist on weighing on the samiti's electronic kanta and take the payment by bank transfer against the anubandh.

Say you farm 6 acres and harvest 150 quintals. Your society cap is 6 × 21 = 126 quintals, which pays 126 × ₹3,100 = ₹3,90,600 by bank transfer within about a week. The remaining 24 quintals go to Raipur mandi, where a miller bids ₹2,150. That gives ₹51,600, less roughly ₹600 in hamali and unloading. Your total is about ₹4,41,600. If you had sold all 150 quintals to a village trader at ₹2,100, you would get ₹3,15,000 — about ₹1.26 lakh less.

Local tips

Sell the capped quantity at the society first and bring only the surplus to Raipur. Arrive with dry, cleaned paddy early in the day, when the mill buyers are still filling their requirements. For tiwra and chana, compare the Raipur rate with the NAFED price-support purchase if it is open that season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sell paddy at Raipur mandi at ₹3,100 per quintal?
No. The ₹3,100 rate (MSP plus Krishak Unnati input assistance) is paid only by the cooperative society purchase centres, up to 21 quintals per acre. At Raipur Krishi Upaj Mandi, millers and traders pay the open-market rate.
What should I do with paddy above the 21-quintal limit?
Sell it in the Raipur mandi's open auction through a licensed trader against an anubandh slip, or hold it until rates rise after the society purchase closes on 31 January. Do not let anyone sell it through another farmer's society account.
How do I get a token for the paddy society in Raipur?
Use the Tunhar token app or visit your society. Your AgriStack farmer ID, land record and bank account must already be linked — e-KYC was compulsory for the 2025-26 season.
Is Raipur mandi on eNAM?
Yes. Raipur Krishi Upaj Mandi is an eNAM yard, so graded lots can receive bids from traders outside the district. Ask the samiti staff to assay and upload your lot.
When is the best time to sell tiwra and chana at Raipur?
Arrivals peak in March and April, right after harvest, and rates are usually lowest then. If you can store safely, compare the mandi rate with the notified MSP and any NAFED purchase before you sell.
