Raigarh Mandi Guide — Selling Paddy & Maize on the Chhattisgarh–Odisha Border
Raigarh sits on the Odisha border, and that shapes its mandi: paddy from both sides of the border competes for the same buyers, and maize grown in the uplands goes to poultry feed mills far away.

MSP CalculatorRaigarh Krishi Upaj Mandi Samiti is an eNAM-linked regulated yard in an industrial district dominated by steel and power plants. Paddy sells to local rice mills; maize sells to traders who supply feed mills in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha. Because of the border, the district administration watches paddy movement closely during the procurement season.
Kharif paddy arrives from November to February. Maize from Dharamjaigarh, Gharghoda and Lailunga arrives from September to November. Some rabi maize and vegetables arrive in spring.

- Transport or loading slip for the vehicle
Important warnings
- • Paddy brought in from Odisha to sell through Chhattisgarh societies is treated as illegal recycling. Do not lend your society account to anyone.
- • Maize with high moisture or aflatoxin fungus is either rejected or bought at a steep discount, and the loss falls entirely on the seller.
- • Maize MSP is ₹2,410 per quintal for 2026-27, but there is rarely a government purchase here. The trader's bid is the real price.
- • Legal commission rate: Mandi fee ~1%; commission ~1–2% — verify the notified rate.
How to sell your crop at Raigarh Mandi
- 1
Sell your paddy quota at your society on a Tunhar token, with your own AgriStack-linked land record.
- 2
Dry maize to 14% moisture or less before you bring it. Feed-mill buyers deduct sharply above that and reject lots with fungus.
- 3
Carry your own land record and transport slip when moving paddy during the procurement season — checkpoints stop lorries without papers.
- 4
Enter the lot at the gate, take the gate pass and sell in the open bid against an anubandh slip.
- 5
Confirm the weight on the samiti kanta and take payment to your own bank account.
Say you bring 30 quintals of maize. A trader bids ₹2,100 for a lot at 14% moisture, giving ₹63,000. If the same lot is at 17% moisture, he may cut the weight by 3% and lower the rate to ₹1,950. That gives about 29.1 × ₹1,950 = ₹56,745 — over ₹6,000 lost to moisture alone.
Local tips
Sun-dry maize on tarpaulins for two or three extra days; it is the cheapest price increase available. Sell maize before the Andhra harvest floods feed mills in December. Keep paddy papers in the vehicle during the procurement months.
